The gravity drain is standard, but you can select the 'with pump' option or use a hose to activate the drain. The unit, according to some customers, can only dehumidify areas of up to 1500 sq.ft. The humidistat and automatic humidity control were an issue for one reviewer who found the readings crept up way too much. It is efficient when run manually, but the continuous mode appears to be too much cycling for not enough moisture removal. The dehumidifier removes a full bucket of water every 10 hours. The unit operates fine when running continuously, and in humid areas such as New Orleans, it makes a noticeable difference to air quality.
