Drama Editorial Review
"Columbo - The Complete First Season" on Blu-ray offers viewers a trip down memory lane with its excellent 70s styling, including fashion, hairstyling, cars, and culture. The show revolves around the character Detective Columbo, and Peter Falk delivers a superb performance. One of the refreshing aspects of the show is that the actors look like normal people, without the often-manufactured plastic surgery look seen in modern TV. The supporting actors, who are excellent character actors from the 70s, add to the overall fun and engaging experience. However, the plots are not realistic, with entrapment and evidence planting being common occurrences. Nonetheless, if you enjoy charismatic actors, 70s style, and a fun atmosphere, this show is a great choice. Customer Reception: - Some customers received used copies missing discs, which were not mentioned in the product description. - One customer mentioned that the disc wouldn't play, rendering it unusable. - Another customer expressed gratitude for the product as it was a gift for their elderly father who loves the show. - A review posted 11 years later claimed that the discs no longer work, with issues like black and white playback, pixelation, skipping, and the assumption that the DVDs were cheap quality or pirated. - One customer was pleased with the product, stating that it was like new. - There was a warning from a customer that the DVDs cannot be played with US made DVD players.
