Lewmar Windlasses Editorial Review
The Lewmar PRO-Fish 1000G 12V G4-102 Pro-Fish Windlass has garnered a largely positive response from customers, particularly among seasoned boaters and SCUBA divers. Many users praise its robust Construction and versatile functionality, which accommodates both rope and chain. The mechanism operates smoothly and efficiently, making anchoring a breeze, especially in deeper waters ranging from 60-100 feet. Installation is frequently highlighted as straightforward, with customers noting that most pre-existing holes align well with the new unit. The windlass's free fall feature is particularly cherished, allowing for rapid deployment of the anchor—vital for those who require precision while anchoring, such as anglers waiting for a fish bite. Users appreciate the ability to enhance control by switching between free-fall and locked modes, making it adaptable to various anchoring situations. The inclusion of a wireless remote is also lauded for providing an added layer of convenience in managing the anchor from different parts of the vessel. However, there are some concerns regarding the product's compatibility with specific chain sizes, which have led to frustration when expectations are not met. One customer reported difficulty when the windlass jammed because it was incompatible with the chain they had purchased, which was not properly disclosed in the product specifications. Overall, while the Lewmar PRO-Fish windlass has its quirks, its strong performance and ease of use generally leave customers satisfied, particularly those who value quick and precise anchoring capabilities. **
